10-Year-Old Farmers Shaping Future of Ag | Food Manufacturers Diversify Ingredient Sourcing | Ethanol Production at Record Levels

Compilation of News from Industry Sources (January 20, 2026)

Ten-year-old Jackson Laux hails from South Whitley, Indiana, a town of under 2,000 in northeast Indiana, west of Fort Wayne. Kendall Rae Johnson, also 10, calls Atlanta home. On the surface, the two have little in common besides age. Look a little closer, and the similarities run deep because of agriculture.

Tariffs and poor crops are stressing supply chains, making it riskier to source raw materials solely from a single geographic area. Maneuvering quickly and wisely may help save on input costs for ingredients such as vitamins, spices, sweeteners and cocoa.

Ethanol Producer Magazine’s Erin Krueger reported that “U.S. fuel ethanol production expanded by 9%, reaching a record high 1.196 million barrels per day the week ending Jan. 9, according to data released by the U.S. Energy Information Administration on Jan. 14. Stocks of fuel ethanol expanded by more than 3% and exports were up 5%.”
