Calling All Exceptional Women in Ag... Nominations Sought for Demeter Award
By Michelle Pelletier Marshall, Women in Agribusiness Media (July 4, 2023)
Our goal at Women in Agribusiness is to provide educational, career, and networking opportunities that help women excel in the sector through the sharing of business knowledge and industry innovations.
To celebrate those exceptional achievers, each year we bestow our Women in Agribusiness Demeter Award of Excellence to three recipients. Recipients are recognized at the annual Women in Agribusiness Summit, which this year will be held in Nashville, September 26-28. Nominations are now being accepted until Friday, July 14.
The award, so named for Demeter, the goddess of the harvest from ancient Greek mythology, recognizes those who have achieved excellence in their field and/or who have demonstrated an outstanding contribution to the agribusiness industry. Thus far, nearly 25 change-makers in ag and food, along with five exceptional companies, including Agrium, Nationwide and Syngenta, have been recipients of the award. These recipients have included women who have started women’s leadership groups or achieved the status as the first woman president of global agribusiness operations, or led mission-critical P&L projects, as well as demonstrated innovation in developing new programs and launching gender diversity initiatives. See the past recipients here.
Up to three recipients will be chosen for the 2023 award. Criteria for nomination includes:
Woman with a minimum of 10 years of experience in the ag and/or food industry;
Woman who is a positive example to other women in the industry;
Woman who breaks down barriers and serves as a resource for others; and
Woman who consistently exemplifies professionalism.
The nomination form is a simple, one-page submission, and is available on the Women in Agribusiness website. There is no limit to the number of entries, and self-nominations are permissible.
