WIA Today is pleased to announce a content partnership with Jacqueline Langlois, who some of you might remember from the 2025 Women in Agribusiness Summit. Langlois, founder and CEO of Gen D Consulting, spoke in a breakout session about “Dialing In Your Leadership Thermostat: Mastering Boundaries & Mindset” where she guided attendees on how to build mental guardrails, reframe self-talk and adopt a pro-active leadership posture to make the most of their time. She also was the moderator of our annual Transforming the Workplace panel.

This is quite apropos as transforming workplaces is Langlois’ specialty. Langlois’ work lives at the intersection of digital complexity and leadership – emphasizing the utmost importance of maintaining the human element in both. Through strategic thinking, executive coaching and a solutions-based focus, she advises organizations in the life sciences, including food and agriculture, on how to bridge the gap between traditional practices and modern workforce expectations, creating environments where diverse teams thrive. But lest you think there’s nothing in it for you as an individual, note that Langlois also focuses on helping individuals become empowered to unlock their full potential, and that what this series will address that as well.

With the Thanksgiving holiday upon us, and thoughtfulness and thankfulness in the air, we’ll start with some words on self-reflection and being intentional about the path you choose. Keep an eye out for future posts that provide more definitive direction to drive your own person progress and brand along the path that was meant for you.
Stay tuned for articles about leadership methods and habits (like Cultural Intelligence pathway), changing your communication mindset and your ability to build boundaries, and creating alignment with your words and energy to guide you on your unique path. If you’d like to connect directly with Langlois, you can do so via Linkedin.
For today, please enjoy this thoughtful post from Langlois:

It is the time of year that we add much busyness to our already busy lives of work, family and daily tasks, other people’s expectations. That added noise can make us exhausted but really makes reflection tempting and necessary. But reflection alone won’t move you forward.
Reflection is powerful — but 𝗿𝗲𝗰𝗮𝗹𝗶𝗯𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 is where growth happens.
Previously, I talked about review season — that spooky mix of celebration and self-critique.𝗕𝘂𝘁 𝘄𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗵𝗮𝗽𝗽𝗲𝗻𝘀 𝗮𝗳𝘁𝗲𝗿 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗿𝗲𝗳𝗹𝗲𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻?
Too often, we stop there.
We write the notes. We list the takeaways.
We promise ourselves we’ll do things differently next year… and then life hits “resume.”
Reflection without recalibration is just nostalgia.
𝗥𝗲𝗰𝗮𝗹𝗶𝗯𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝘄𝗶𝘁𝗵𝗼𝘂𝘁 𝗿𝗲𝗱𝗶𝗿𝗲𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗶𝘀 𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗽𝗹𝗮𝗰𝗲𝗻𝗰𝘆.
It's not enough to look back — you have to adjust the dial 𝗳𝗼𝗿𝘄𝗮𝗿𝗱.
The Thermostat Mindset is built on one question:
“𝙒𝙝𝙖𝙩 𝙣𝙚𝙚𝙙𝙨 𝙩𝙤 𝙘𝙝𝙖𝙣𝙜𝙚 𝙞𝙣 𝙢𝙚 𝙗𝙚𝙛𝙤𝙧𝙚 𝙖𝙣𝙮𝙩𝙝𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝙘𝙝𝙖𝙣𝙜𝙚𝙨 𝙖𝙧𝙤𝙪𝙣𝙙 𝙢𝙚?”
Maybe it’s shifting from reacting to regulating.
Maybe it’s saying no sooner — not later.
Maybe it’s giving feedback instead of holding frustration.
Maybe it's changing course against popular beliefs.
Whatever it is, that’s where your next season of growth starts — not in January, but right now.
So take your insights from review season and ask:
𝗪𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝘄𝗶𝗹𝗹 𝗜 𝗱𝗼 𝗱𝗶𝗳𝗳𝗲𝗿𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗹𝘆 𝘁𝗵𝗶𝘀 𝘄𝗲𝗲𝗸?
𝗪𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗿𝗵𝘆𝘁𝗵𝗺 𝗱𝗼 𝗜 𝗻𝗲𝗲𝗱 𝘁𝗼 𝗺𝗼𝘃𝗲 𝗳𝗼𝗿𝘄𝗮𝗿𝗱?
𝗪𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗱𝗼 𝗜 𝘄𝗮𝗻𝘁 𝘁𝗼 𝗯𝗲 𝗸𝗻𝗼𝘄𝗻 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗻𝗲𝘅𝘁 𝘆𝗲𝗮𝗿?
Because leadership isn’t about what you reflect on —It’s about what you’re willing to recalibrate and the redirection you make that propels you forward.
𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗿𝗲𝗳𝗹𝗲𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗶𝘀 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗺𝗶𝗿𝗿𝗼𝗿.
𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗿𝗲𝗰𝗮𝗹𝗶𝗯𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗶𝘀 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗺𝗼𝘃𝗲.
𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗿𝗲𝗱𝗶𝗿𝗲𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗶𝘀 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗻𝗲𝘄 𝗳𝗿𝗼𝗻𝘁𝗶𝗲𝗿.
