Compilation of news from industry sources (October 6, 2026)

The U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) has announced funding for the 2026 Specialty Crop Block Grant Program (SCBGP). California received $28.9 million of approximately $86.6 million awarded nationwide.

"Tonight I'm also pleased to announce that the Department of Agriculture will be launching a new Harvest Fuel Relief program, providing our farmers with $8 billion in support to offset diesel costs during this harvest season," Mr. Trump said at a rally in Kansas Monday night.

I recently had the opportunity to attend and speak at the Women in Agribusiness Summit in New Orleans. It was a great few days of industry insights, meaningful conversations, and connecting with women who are making an impact across food and agriculture.  As an executive recruiter specializing in the industry, I spend much of my time talking with leaders about business challenges, growth, and talent. Events like this are a valuable opportunity to step back and look at the bigger picture.  A few themes stood out to me.
