PRESS RELEASE: Deadline Nears for Women in Agribusiness Demeter Award of Excellence

ORLANDO, May 15, 2025 – Time is running out to submit nominations for the prestigious Women in Agribusiness (WIA) Demeter Award of Excellence. This annual honor celebrates outstanding women with at least 10 years of experience across the agricultural value chain — from farm to fork. Award recipients will be recognized at the 2025 Women in Agribusiness Summit, taking place September 22-24 in Orlando, Florida.

Nominees must:

• Have a minimum of 10 years of experience in the agriculture and/or food industry.

• Exhibit notable professional achievements. 

• Be an inspiring role model for other women in the industry.

• Actively dismantle barriers, foster opportunities, and act as a valuable resource for others.

• Consistently exemplify professionalism.

The deadline to submit nominations is Friday, June 20. Self-nominations are welcome as well, and there is no limit to the number of entries. Nominations, which must include detailed examples of the nominee’s positive impact on their company, colleagues, clients or the agribusiness sector as a whole, can be submitted here.

What does it take to be a WIA Demeter Award recipient?

Those recognized in the past have been notable for, as highlighted by their nominators:

• Playing a critical role in creating an inclusive and dynamic corporate culture within the organization.

• Introducing underserved youth to careers in agriscience and being instrumental in negotiating a $9.4M grant for 4-H from the USDA.

• Growing attendance by nearly four thousand due to the overall outreach and strategy developed.

• Being instrumental in navigating complex agricultural policies, effectively bridging the gap between farmers and policymakers.

• Inspiring colleagues through dedication, knowledge and work ethic and fostering an environment of continuous learning and improvement, with respect to the latest trends and technologies in agriculture.
