PRESS RELEASE: Experts Weigh in on U.S. Ag Trade & Policy at 2025 Women in Agribusiness Summit

ORLANDO, July 28, 2025 – There’s nearly a day that goes by without some new directive for U.S. trade and policy initiatives. How to make sense of the twists and turns? Look to the industry experts at the 2025 Women in Agribusiness (WIA) Summit, especially those on the Market Access and Trade Policy: What Agribusinesses Need to Know Now and Next session, the opening panel at this 14th annual Summit taking place in Orlando, Florida, September 22-24 at the Hyatt Regency Orlando.

Guided by the steadfast policy and government communications experience of veteran journalist Sara Wyant, president of Agri-Pulse, which has their finger on the pulse of U.S. government policies here and abroad, this esteemed panel includes:

  • Virginia Houston, Director of Government Affairs with the American Soybean Association (ASA)

  • Gretchen Kuck, Applied Economist for Ag, Trade & Policy for the National Corn Growers Association (NCGA)

  • Alejandra Castillo, President & CEO of the National American Export Grain Association (NAEGA)

  • Sérgio Bortolozzo, President of Sociedade Rural Brasileira (SRB)

The forward-looking session will explore current and emerging trade policies between the U.S. and key agricultural import/export partners. The speakers will discuss the potential impacts of these policies on trade flows, highlighting the key risks and opportunities they present for agribusinesses now and in the months ahead. Key takeaways from the presentation by this venerable group include gaining critical insights into the policy shifts to watch, strategies for managing uncertainty, and how to position their businesses for success in this rapidly changing global trade environment.

This panel, immediately following keynote speaker Karen Braun, chief market analyst with Zaner Ag Hedge, kicks off the WIA Summit with a theme for addressing the ever-changing dynamics in the ag economy. More than 60+ speakers – from the likes of Ardent Mills, Cargill, Syngenta, Wilbur-Ellis, GreenLight BioSciences and many others – will provide up-to-the-minute facts and figures about the policies and economics that are constantly testing the resiliency of the ag sector.

Unique special activities – including an exclusive WIA Members Only Night Out, a private dinner for women in protein, tours to a blueberry farm and the citrus research center at the University of Florida, a leadership workshop, and more – complement the critical learning component this Summit is known for, bringing networking opportunities on all levels.

With an audience that is nearly 30 percent C-suite and decision-makers, and 50 percent first-time attendees plus representation across all career stages and ages – from Gen Z to Boomers and students to world leaders – this premier event set to empower, connect and elevate promises something for everyone. See the full agenda here.
